They are wonderful for awakening and easing my sore muscles that accumulated through the night. They are so relaxing but they make me want to go back to bed. But this is a highly effectivie way of dealing with fibromyalgia and hot tubs and massage seem to be similar in their effectivess in dealing with fibromyalgia.

Temporary Relief   04/16/08
Reviewed by:     Ohio, USA
I recently disovered the benefits of warm baths with epsom salts to relieve immediate pain. I'm able to take when needed because I am recently self employed & can no longer afford Provigil, which had been my life line. They provide immediate relief & with the pain numbed I can focus and this relieves stress & depression. They are not however convenient, nor do they last for very long. I fear the day when I can no longer stop everything & take a warm bath.

Use 4 cups of it in a particularly warm bath. I have read studies that show that any more of than this is a waste. Allow it to disolve and get in. Do this once per day along with 30min-1hour of vigourous exercise and you will be amazed at the difference after 2 weeks.

The Great Escape   09/23/07
Reviewed by:     Isle of Man, United Kingdom
A good ole hot bath or shower, can't be beaten! these are an absolute life line for me. When I shower I put the pulse setting on and move about to get to all the areas hurting most. The relief of the heat is almost immediate and the shower has to be about 30 mins for me. the bath at least an hour. The worst side effect is trying to cool down afterwards and sweating from the heat. When I'm at my lowest and sorest I have to have either of these and escape the misery of life for a while.

Temporary but Immediate   08/17/07
Reviewed by:     New York, USA
Before I discovered trigger point injections, zanaflex, and ice, I discovered warm baths/showers. the heat is an immediate and effective, if temporary treatment for muscle spasms....and with the spasms under control, i can get to sleep, and once asleep, my muscles quiet down.......a warm bath or shower before bed is absolutely essential for me. also, i'm stiff from my tendinitis's in the morning, so a warm shower or bath is absolutely essential to start my day........add some lavender to the bath water......spend some money on good quality bath oils and salts.......a daily luxary....which means it helps with the mental/emotional part of having a chronic illness that most doctors can't handle.

Baths are a timeless joy & relief of overall distress. They do not solve the problems, nor have long lasting benefit; but they relieve the immediate distress. Anything that does that is worth the time & cost.
