Great except when I see the chores piling up!   09/18/07

I try pacing myself as much as possible, but do it more by trying to set a steady pace at work because the work keeps coming in. I balance it out by having a trashy looking house because I don't have much energy left to clean. I have been trying to jump in and get several big things done at home per month (clean out closets, clean bathroom, mop, etc.) when I can. Sometimes I just have to do it and then live with the pain for a few days. I am ashamed to let anyone in the house because it is so bad, and that isn't because I'm a perfectionist! When I get exhausted and very achey, I will try to chill out at home more for a few days (no shopping or other tiring things). For me there is a fine line between pacing myself and becoming immobile because when I ache I don't want to move. I have found once I make myself go beyond the initial pain of getting up and moving around, I feel somewhat better as my muscles loosen up a bit. Unfortunately, I stiffen up again within 5 minutes of sitting down!

Pacing Myself   10/30/06

I have been told by many doctors to Pace myself more. It is hard to learn that you have to pace yourself when you have been a person that has not paced yourself for many yrs. I have now learned that if I don't I will have extreme pains. I now am doing much better as I have learned how to pace myself after all these yrs. Word of advice: You MUST pace yourself - do little by little and take your time. This is only if you want to feel better.I know it is a hard thing to do sometimes. But if you want to relieve some of your pains you MUST learn to pace yourself and not do everythingg at once. This has helped me with some thing but not all.
