Electro Accupuncture   08/21/05
Reviewed by:     Strafford, New Hampshire, USA
I found this treatment to be ineffective, as a matter of fact I felt worse each time someone talked me into trying it again. The only use of accupuncture needles that I found helps is the "dry needle trigger point release" where the practitioner stabs the trigger points with a very fine needle, and actually makes the trigger point release. This does not require electricity at all, and takes only 15 minutes, as opposed to the 45 minutes for the electro accupuncture.

No needles involved   08/12/05
Reviewed by:     Monterey Coast, California, USA
A small hand unit is used to provide electic spurts of energy to the trigger points area. The challenge is to find a Dr. that CAN do the job properly and isn't conservative. There is a small amount of discomfort - but nothing awful. Most insurance companies WILL pay a portion of the cost, provided the services are done by an M.D. I was able to find two M.D. - one was more conservative, but still - it does provide temporary relief for those really bad days when you want to just curl up in to a ball.
