Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia

Acupuncture is a 5000 year old Chinese practice that involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture may actually help fibromyalgia tender point pain or myofascial trigger point pain because this practice is used for pain relief and to promote one's well-being. However, acupuncture is also used for headaches, constipation, sinuses, colds, asthma, ulcers, and much more so it may help other fibromyalgia symptoms.

Acupuncture for last 5 years   02/22/10
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
I've been going for acupuncture for my fibromyalgia for the past 5 years. Between this and changes in my diet and lifestyle (no gluten and minimizing stress through life choices), I can almost say I don't have fibromyalgia. Of course, it's there if I don't follow my regimen of acupuncture and stress control, but when I follow them, I almost never get pain. I still have stiffness of my connective tissue, but I am now working on eliminating that through acupuncture and herbs as well. They have treatments for adhesions!

This is my fibro DRUG OF CHOICE   12/13/09
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
Right now, I'm going three times per month, but time between visits is increasing. Eventually, I will only need 'tune ups' because things will be flowing more as they should. Acupuncture is not cheap - my insurance won't pay for it. BUT -- the cost of the acupuncture is mostly offset by NOT buying Cymbalta at about 50 bucks a month, after insurance pays their part. I am energized.. I move freely...This is helping my fibro AND my cervical arthritis. My friends and colleagues are amazed. After several years of NOT being, I am back to people saying I'm a high-energy person. My chiropractor is amazed, because he can actually adjust me now, instead of my body resisting every move. After coming off a horse, I went to get my neck adjusted -- he is sending me PROMPTLY to my acupuncturist, because he sees such a positive change. Of course... I thoroughly buy into the 'energy channels' concepts that acupunture depends upon. Maybe that's part of why it works so well for me. Amazing therapy!

This has been a "lifesaver" for me!   03/04/08
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
I went to see Dr. Saylor in Tarpon Springs, Florida because i had seen information a couple of times about him and his treatment for fibromyalgia. I have to say i am so glad I made the drive. I feel so much better, my energy, my focus, my pain, depression, sleep have all improved. He did acupuncture and one time in the beginning did a injection which was a miracle shot. This doctor knows his stuff and how to treat fibromyalgia. Plus his office staff was so kind and compassionate! Give him a call if you have done what I did tried everything else.... why did I not go there when I was first diagnosed is beyond me but, I am thankful I found hum now.

I love acupunture!   01/20/08
Reviewed by:     Dallas, Texas, USA
Acupuncture is one of those therapies where you do not always recognize the benefits until you try to stop using it or cant make it for a few weeks. I did that recently, and OMG! My symptoms returned raging like quick growing disease. I am now back on track and refuse to miss appointments. At one point, I thought I had gone into total remission, but I have to go twice weekly to feel that. My co-pay is $60. an appointment but its worth it! Better than fog inducing pain relievers!
