helps extreme fatigue   06/28/08

only thing I've tried that helps get me out of bed and able to function somewhat normally. Good for energy, mind fog and depression. Tends to help insomnia if not taken too late in the day. Doesn't do much for all the other symptoms and tends to make the anxiety a little worse for me. Now to find a doctor around here who will believe me when I tell them what works for me and prescribe it without rolling their eyes and throwing the script at me. After years of being told to "get a good psychiatrist" I finally got a diagnosis from a rheumy that told me I had a severe case of fibro. Thing is, he would only give me lyrica, period. Told me to go back to my PCP for pain and other meds. PCP doesn't completely buy the fibro diagnosis. I can't win.

Adderall Changed My Life   06/10/08
Reviewed by:     Ocean Springs, Mississippi, USA
I was going crazy and falling asleep at the wheel while driving my grandson to McDonalds which was very scary. My doctor first prescribed provigil 200 mg twice a day and I have to admit that it gave me the energy to slop falling asleep but did nothing for the fibro fog. But my biggest complaint was the price so I spoke with my doctor about providing me with another medication that didn't cost so much. ADDERALL!!!! Great, from the beginning I had the energy, to feel normal again. But my ability to think ahead, anticipate and avoid problems has dramatically improved. For the first time I can finish reading a book without back tracking. Before Adderall I would begin reading the first few pages and not remembering or understand what I have just read. And then have to go back again and read it over. Now reading has become a joy and a blessing. Also, I no longer experience the anxiety that I always had before I started the adderall, I feel like a different person. I actually have motivation to do something in life now!

In the last couple weeks, I've had a couple of really great days, but I'm crashing tonight. I knew it wouldn't last, But there's tomorrow, and the promise of adderall. I was given Adderall for ADD Which now I realize is part of the fibro. I don't know if I am or was Hypoglycemic. But I was 210 pounds and ALWAYS hungry. It was and is in a way my miracle med. I could get up, Go out, I was clear headed and alert. And I was loosing weight. 60 pounds or so iv put about 10 of that back on now. I had my first look at what a normal healthy person does and feels. Only now I am taking 30 mg twice a day and another 5 mg once a day. My dry eyes and Mouth are worse then ever and the fog has creeped back in along with the mixed up sentences and words. I smoke way more then I ever did before. Its basicaly man made Speed its an amphetamine and as with any med Every one develops a tolorence. I am now stuck with the fear of slipping back into that hole I lived in for years. Emotionaly terrified of yes ( Being overweight again) Not only that but looseing the function I have gained. My Jobs getting harder. My pain is rising again and I'm terrified because I see myself falling back in that hole and No one seems to care.

I also have a skin problem all over my body. I started taking adderall 4 months ago and I feel great I can do things I never could before in my life. What a surprise!   06/26/06
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
I think I've had fibro all my life, but the awfulness of it didn't come on until I hit my 40's. Cumulative stress and hormonal stuff tipped the scales and I crashed with pain, pain, pain, depression, anxiety, insomnia, IBS. I've also had what I now recognize as ADD. So, my therapist prescribed Adderall just to see if it helped the disorganization. To my surprise, it helped everything! Depression was gone while I was on it, pain and stiffness were gone. My focus and clarity are much improved. My home is finally getting cleaned - rather obsessively, but that's OK. There's new research that implicates too little dopamine in the area of the brain that controls pain, emotion, and muscle function. Adderall increases dopamine and it works. No wonder I loved those 'uppers' in college so much. Oh, and it doesn't interfere with sleep. Like the previous poster noted, it makes you feel like doing more things, being more active. It calms and energizes me at the same time. The entended release and the regular non-extended have different qualities but I like the extended best. I take it when I need it and don't believe I'm dependent on it other than I depend on it to make me feel better. Yay Adderall!

Great for brain fog & fatigue   06/02/06
Reviewed by:     Indiana, USA
This med was wonderful for brain fog and fatigue and helped many other fibro problems as well that I never expected it would help. One of the side effects I was told it may give me was inability to sleep; however, I slept better on days I took it possibly because I was able to be more active. I was also told it would make it difficult for me to eat. In my case, not so! I ate more, which in my case is good since I'm hypoglycemic. I think maybe I needed to add more calories because I was able to move more and burn more calories. As an added bonus, it also cleared up my acne. I've heard it has a reputation for being addictive, but I did not get addicted after being on it for 6 months or so. I know this because I recently moved to a new state and have not found a doctor yet so I have been without it for quite a while. I had no withdrawals whatsoever. My life just went back to the way it was before the adderall. Oh, and on the last couple of weeks taking it, I started taking over the counter nadh as well and the two had some kind of wonderful synergistic effect. While taking them both, I lost all of my weather pains, my sunlight to eyeball sensitivities, my melasma totally cleared up, my allergies went away, etc. All kinds of wonderful things happened when taking it with the nadh. But I found it to be a med that truly improved the quality of my life all around even by itself.
